After winning Miss Earth Laos in October, Ms. Jintana Khidaphone qualified to take part in Miss Earth Pageant 2022 in the Philippines.

Last week, an event was held at Vientiane’s Wattay International Airport to officially send off Miss Earth Laos, Ms. Jintana Khidaphone also known as Tato, to compete in Miss Earth 2022 pageant which will take place in the Philippines this month.

The event saw attendance from the Director of Laotel Hotel, Mr. Vongchanh Buapheng, a local designer, Mr. Khamphao Buaphanh, and the beauty queen’s family and relatives alongside local press and members of her fan club.

After winning the title of Miss Earth Laos last month, Ms. Jintana qualified to compete in Miss Earth 2022, representing Laos on the prestigious stage while competing against 70 contestants from other nations.

Miss Earth is an international event aimed at generating awareness about the environment through a beauty pageant. It sees roughly 80 delegates participating each year from around the world and the winner goes on to serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

Miss Earth 2022 will be held on 29 November at the Okada Manila resort casino in Parañaque, Philippines.

Beauty pageants have been in the spotlight in Laos recently following a government ruling preventing trans women from competing in them both domestically and abroad. Members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community in Laos have taken to social media to demand equal rights following this incident.
